The UK Government launched the G-Cloud framework in 2012 to streamline how public sector organisations buy digital and cloud-based services. By 2013, G-Cloud had grown to over 700 suppliers under its second version (G-Cloud 2). Today, it includes over 3,000 suppliers offering diverse services, including cyber security, cloud migration, and managed services.

There is a common misconception that G-Cloud is limited to cloud providers alone. Within its catalogue, G-Cloud includes essential cyber security solutions like penetration testing, managed security services, governance, risk and compliance, and technical solutions such as firewalls.

Another misconception about G-Cloud is that it’s exclusive to central government agencies. G-Cloud is accessible to many public sector bodies, including local authorities, arms-length organisations, such as regulators and the BBC, and charities. With over 400 portals currently used by the public sector to advertise needs and interface with suppliers, the procurement landscape has often been fragmented, adding complexity and costs for customers and suppliers. By contrast, G-Cloud provides a centralised, efficient marketplace where thousands of public sector buyers can connect directly with suppliers across various products and professional services.

The recently launched G-Cloud 14 is set to offer even greater value to the public sector by expanding the variety of services available. For Sapphire, this marks our ninth consecutive year on the framework, and we’re proud to announce that we’ve significantly broadened our offerings. This year, we have expanded our G-Cloud service catalogue from 22 to 72 services, allowing us to deliver end-to-end support across consultancy, technology solutions, and managed services including our OT/IOT offering. By broadening our G-Cloud offerings, we enable public sector clients to access comprehensive services through a trusted platform, from strategic consultancy to cutting-edge cyber security and managed services.

Sapphire’s involvement in G-Cloud 14 reflects our commitment to providing reliable, practical solutions that help public sector bodies navigate complex security and technology challenges. And as the public sector’s demand for secure, cloud-based solutions grows, Sapphire’s offerings on G-Cloud 14 reinforce our dedication to supporting organisations in building robust, resilient digital infrastructures.

We look forward to helping public sector bodies across the UK achieve their goals and maintain cyber security excellence.
