Over the last decade technology has developed at an alarming rate and it is now relatively easy and cheap to purchase portable media such as storage keys, iPods, MP3 players, digital cameras or CD-R’s. Alongside this the number of mobile workers employed by organisations has risen significantly.

Overall IT departments are finding it increasingly difficult to monitor the number of portable devices and applications used on their corporate PC’s either at home or in the work place.
