General Information Assurance Products and Services Initiative (GIPSI)
Sapphire is a member o f The General Information Assurance Products and Services Initiative (GIPSI).

GIPSI is chaired by CSIA and brings together representatives from central and local Government, NHS, Criminal Justice Network, Industry, Commerce and Academia.

The responsibilities of GIPSI include:

• Facilitating the implementation of the UK Government strategy for IA (low assurance levels)
• Defining, capturing and promoting the public sector requirements for information assurance schemes and establishing the means to ensure that those requirements are met
• Monitoring (and where relevant seeking to influence) international IA schemes and standards
• Overseeing the work of CIPCOG; overview of the low assurance areas of the Defence INFOSEC Product Co–Operation Group (DIPCOG); and the Scottish Information Assurance Forum (SIAF)
  

The GIPSI requirements capture exercise is part of a wider programme of work being undertaken by the Cabinet Office, which will continue for the next few months, to capture information assurance requirements for products and services from the wider public sector and central Government.

As part of this exercise, CSIA has commissioned Software Box Ltd and CISCO to undertake a survey of public sector organisations. It is important that as many organisations as possible complete this survey to ensure that this is representative of the whole of the public sector.
