Devon County Council Achieves Compliance to ISO 27001

Stockton-on-Tees, England – 11  January 2010 – In December 2009, Sapphire was delighted to announce that Devon County Council achieved compliance to the international Information Security Standard, ISO 27001.

Devon is committed to implementing robust security solutions and rigorous working practices. In order to demonstrate its level of commitment to information, the council made the decision to work towards and achieve compliance with ISO 27001.

Independent security advisor, Sapphire, has been working alongside Devon throughout the project to offer advice and support.

To achieve Compliance, Devon had to implement an ISMS (Information Security Management System). The ISMS adheres to ISO 27001 and the required control requirements.

In addition to this Devon are required to participate in regular internal audits to ensure that the same, high level of security is maintained throughout the organisation.

Together, Sapphire and Devon will begin the next phase of the information security programme in 2010.
