Strategic alliance formed with Northumbria University
In October 2006 Sapphire announced its strategic alliance with Northumbria University. The two organisations have designed an agenda to be utilised within the universities Post Graduate Certificate in Computer Forensics.

Northumbria has been working with Sapphire to take sections of its syllabus and combine this with Sapphire's existing agenda. Sapphires contribution will focus largely on the role that Computer Forensics plays in deterring, detecting and solving computer crime and crimes using computers.

Sapphire currently holds a Computer Forensic training course at its Head Office in Stockton-on-Tees each month. The course covers a range of topics including an introduction to the basic principles and techniques of computer and digital forensics. We have tailored the course to appeal to a wide audience from a range of different backgrounds; both technical and non-technical.

Tait Walker and Sapphire fight fraud in the workplace
Sapphire and Tait Walker have joined forces to fight against fraud in the workplace. The strategic partnership formed between the two organisations represents a national campaign to increase levels of awareness and minimise fraudulent activity within the workplace.

Our two organisations intend to share preventative information and educate organisations within the area through seminars and update briefings.

Together, Sapphire and Tait Walker will be hosting an event on Tuesday 13th February, 2007 to announce their new partnership and raise awareness of fraud detection and prevention within the workplace. The evening reception is being held at St James Park, Newcastle and will include canapés and refreshments. More information can be found on the events section of our website.

New partnerships with BeCrypt and Webroot
Sapphire has extended its existing vendor portfolio by partnering with security solution providers Webroot and Becrypt.

Becrypt specialises in data protection and encryption products. Their innovative range of solutions have been designed with security in mind. BeCrypt offers products certified under various security assurance schemes, including CSIA CCT Mark scheme. The CSIA is a new unit in the UK Government's Cabinet Office and works with partners both in the public and private sectors, as well as its international counterparts, to help safeguard the nation's IT and telecommunications services. The CCT Mark itself guarantees that when purchasing a solution from a vendor, the client is protected and the product performs to standards set by the UK government.

Sapphire’s newest partner, Webroot, provides best-of-breed anti-spyware solutions that protect personal information and corporate assets from online and internal threats. Webroot’s solution provides best of breed protection against all types of malicious spyware, adware and other harmful intruders.

Sapphire’s security partners are key players within the IT security arena. I trust that by forming alliances with Becrypt and Webroot, Sapphire can provide a comprehensive offering to our clients.

Sapphire successfully passes its 2nd ISO27001 audit
It brings me great pleasure to write to you regarding our first ISO27001 audit since achieving re-certification earlier this year. You may recall that I announced our successful transition from BS7799:2005 to ISO27001 in the March edition of eNews Online. I am pleased to further announce that due to the rigorous internal procedures we have passed our 2nd audit, again with flying colours.

As Managing Director of an independent security consultancy I realise the importance of Sapphire maintaining this level of certification. Our continuous adherence to best practise demonstrates to our clients and business partners the high level of commitment to security and integrity we have.

I would whole heartedly encourage any organisation who values its reputation to at least comply with industry best standards such as ISO17799 and ISO27001.
